Cheap /5. Some paint missing here and there but looks well cared for. 900cc upgrade in 1995 and under 30k miles since then. This thing is a bit of a sleeper. Missing the fork gaiters but comes with luggage and racks not pictured. For sale in the Bay Area on Craigslist.

1978 BMW R100 - $6750
Lots of miles but well cared for a dealer serviced. One of the best paint schemes on the R100RS and a great year for the motor. 78’s have some of the best head chamber designs from the factory for perfect squish band. Paint appears to be in great shape other than the ding the seller mentions on the left side. All the factory goodies included. For sale in Sacramento on Craigslist.

Not a color I see often. a well cared for orange r100/7. Appears to be well cared for, upgraded seat and little things here and there. Bings rebuilt at the factory, speedo and tach rebuilt last year ($$). Very fair price at 4300. For sale in Washington on Craigslist.

Odometer reads under 6000 miles. Top spec 750cc toaster in the long wheel base form. A beauty that will probably need some elbow grease. Likely some piston rings and seals here and there. Cheap, realiable, low miles. The other thing than really goes bad on these is the ABS unit. Keep an eye on it and this bike will likely run forever. For sale outside of Sacramento on Craigslist. Full set of pannier and the staintune exhaust to boot!
2007 BMW G650 X Challenge w/ABS - $3800
For sale on Adventure Rider, a well sorted X-Challenge. Price keeps getting lowered, these are great bikes, very reliable motors and this person has already replaced the unreliable air shock in the rear with a new conventional unit.
BMW R100GS - $3500
According to the post this bike has been well maintained and has some of the usuals covered, new trans, heads have likely been done, shaft drive probably needs to be checked. This is a great minimalist tourer/ adventure bike for cheap and is barely broken in. Has better forks than the R80G/S but a less “reliable” shaft system. Some EME parts as well. For sale in Palo Alto on Craigslist.
1988 BMW R100GS - $3500
Lotta miles but a lotta life left in this one. Likely negotiable because of the miles. Paint looks great, doens’t look like it’s been ridden offroad much. Buyer should check on shaft, heads, trans rebuilds but otherwise these are workhorses. Any charging upgrading would be a bonus. After the R80 G/S these bikes got big upgrades on the front forks which is a bonus. Appears to come with factory panniers and an upgraded rear shock. For sale in Norcal on Craigslist.
1993 BMW R100GS PD - $5900
I’d consider this “cheap” even if all of that work hadn’t been done so classifying this one as a deal! For sale in Colorado on Craigslist. From the ad:
This is an unfortunate posting for me; as I am selling the most reliable machine, out of a great many, I have ever had the pleasure of owning. This Beemer has had two owners (including me). When I found this bike, I had the fortunate pleasure to do a full rebuild (engine, tranny cir-clip, spline lubed, etc..) with one (west coast) of the two United States BMW motorcycle importers whom naturally was a master mechanic on all the bikes he imported; he worked for BMW from the early 70's-late 00's. Therefore, all of the up-keep and maintenance has been done by me. It is custom for me to have a shop double-check the bike before large expeditions. Never anything but excellent reviews fro my mechanic. "runs like a watch"
It comes with a great many things because this bike is ready to ride around the world tomorrow.
Included:
Ohlins rear shock rebuild (not by me) - very recent.
Silver Canyon Cut Happy Trails Panniers.
Aerostitch electric pump/ patch kit.
ABUS lock W/ Chain.

BMW R100 GS - $6000
Bumble-Bee Airhead GS for sale in Venice on Craigslist. Nice patina on this one. No service history on this one so keep an eye on the valve recession in the heads and transmission circlip. Paralevers are usually fine unless ridden offroad. This one appears to come with an aftermarket rear shock and side cases. This GS has better factory forks than the earlier version which is a bonus.
